Arms & Reference

Threw together a quick render of the final armor design. Gonna need to get some steer horns from somewhere

The color scheme is like the "Green Mountain Boys" uniform.  After all, I'm not called "Green Mountain Mech Works" for nothing: Vermont literally means "Green Mountain" (french: verde monte)

Also found some reference material for a buck apiece

Finished skinning the other side of the center piece.  I have a messy garage!

A-door-able progress

Terrible puns...

Some warping at the top of the door. That will be fixed when I put on the door ventilation cupola. The door side panels are going to be a joy *sarcasm*

Metal Skin Panic!

Started securing the aluminum flashing to the subframe, but realized I need lots of 1-1/4 bots to secure it.  AFTERNOON SHOPPING TRIP!  HOORAY!

In other news, the local inventor's guild just gave me a $1000 scholarship and 2 months of free reign in their facilities starting in June to build this and/or a second mech! Neat! When I make my guild presentation I wonder if I'll make it to the local news?
Once I get a second one done I just need some victims-er... pilots... to mount up and fight each other. This aint gonna be a namby pamby costume that takes 20 minutes to suit up. Hop in, strap in and fightin'!

Forever watching.

Picture Time

The snow has melted away, letting me take the mech outside for the first time. Pictures!

The "Stasis Dock" (wooden frame supporting the mech) is on some casters, which are braked by these rotating chunks of wood.

Started work on a PVC subframe.  Many little elbows and unions give me flashbacks to the good ol' days of goofing around with lego.  Must have a hundred or so feet of PVC in this little beauty.

Armor Brainstorming

Been a while, the big ol' mech as just been sitting in my garage.  Outside its snowing (which is unfriendly to cardboard) and my budget has dried up for a bit.  You can guess what my tax return is going towards.

An idea for basic covering.

Looking into some more detailed design eventually.  Extra points for a wireframe view?

Some more armor ideas/ display support.  A mech needs someplace to dock, doesn't it?

I've found myself liking the "Bubblegum Crisis" and "Metal Skin Panic: MADOX 01" Mechs.  Something about 80s cheese...

Armor Prototyping

Started using cardboard to prototype the armor.  Debating on whether to use Aluminum flashing or Corrugated Plastic.

 Adding a door.  Its a-door-able!!!

Some Pauldrons and a head (with a webcam inside!).  Also had some fun with stencils trying out the anagram of "M.E.C.H.A." (Mechanical Exoskeleton Chassis Humanoid Augmentation)
